Today is my last day of work before taking a very extended period of paternity leave, between September 18 and January 12 (2027, of course!). I am doing so do spend quality time with my second child, born in January 2025, and to make the most of this period I will only be checking my inbox very occasionally, since I have very strict boundaries between work and life. To make sure that only the emails I really, really, need to see reach me, I am using Inbox Pause, so only emails from a limited pre-selected whitelist of senders, or emails matching a very limited set of filters in the text, are being delivered to my inbox. In short, 99% of the emails sent to me during this period will not be read before 2027. Of course, keep in mind that when I return in 2027 I will have an enormous backlog of stuff to do and emails to read, so I might simply decide that whatever reached me during this period crossed an event horizon and will be forgotten forever.
